Guest Designer at Jaded Blossom!!

Hello Everyone!

I hope you all had a Merry Christmas!

I am absolutely giddy to be a guest designer today for Jaded Blossom! Thank you Michelle and Candace for allowing me to be apart of Jaded Blossom's First Birthday Celebration!

For my project today, I decided to make a Christmas ornament for my Mother's red & white Christmas tree (her birthday is tomorrow!).

I heat embossed the Jaded Blossom stamp, Noel, from their Christmas Wishes set as the
center focal point on both sides of the ornament. The base of this ornament is a smooth styrofoam ball.
I folded 2.5" pieces of ribbon and "quilted" them around the Noel.

Once the both sides of the "quilting" is done, I wrapped a folded and glued piece of the white ribbon around to hide the "seam". Topped off with some pretty ribbon, a ribbon to hang it with and it's all done!

Have a great day and thanks for looking!

Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas Everyone!

I hope everyone out there is having a Merry Christmas! So far, we've had a pretty good holiday. My mother-in-paw is up from Florida and we've been spending some time with my family.

When I saw the 3D Santa Christmas Box Tote on the Silhouette Store (It's by Lori Whitlock), I knew I had to make it to put my cousin's daughter's Christmas present in.

I used red, white, black, yellow, and green paper from my stash. I added some stickles to the holly, Santa's buckle, and on Santa's hat.

I made a quick tag using another one of Lori Whitlock's files "Christmas Tags" from the Silhouette store. The Merry Christmas stamp is from Jaded Blossom's set Christmas Wishes. I added a couple of snowflakes I punched out of some paper from my stash and tied it all to the bag with some ribbon.

Have a great day!

Santa Christmas Card

With all of the hustle and bustle this month, I have finally had the time to sit down and
play with paper! I was so happy!

I made a card for my husband's Granny and Pap-Pap.

Pap-Pap collects Santa's, so when I saw the Santa Card
from SVG Cuts file Christmas Open House SVG Kit, I knew I had to get it!

The paper I used to make this card came out of my stash.

The holly on Santa's Hat is an embellishment from a discontinued
Martha Stewart Crafts sticker set called Traditional Holly & Sprig Stickers.
I've had them in my stash for about 3 years.

For the Merry Christmas embellishment, I used Jaded Blossom's Flag Dies and the
Merry Christmas is from their stamp set, Christmas Wishes. I finished it off with a little green bling
and folded the flag into shape and curled the edges.

Now, since my desk is still covered in crafty goodness, I think I shall play some more!
Have a great day!

Got my wreath done!

I've had some medical issues this week, so between doctor's appointments and finals, time hasn't been on my side for crafting.

I got my wreath done! I'm happy to have at least had that much time to play.

Snowflake Card

While I was browsing the Silhouette Store Tuesday morning a week ago,
a card design by Lori Whitlock caught my eye.
On her website, it's part of the Christmas Card 2 set (bottom right corner).
Today's card was inspired by that file.

This card was very simple to make. To be honest, it was pure luck that the chevrons
and blue snowflake strip lined up as perfectly as they did.
The chevrons are from the 6x6 paper pad by
Echo Park Paper Co called Winter Wishes
I used the EK Success Punch Dotted Scallop Edger on the chevron paper.
For the snowflakes on the dark blue card stock, I used the Martha Stewart,
Punch All Over the Page Nordic Snowflake.
Sorry, but I couldn't find a decent link to post for the punch.

Thankful for You Card

This is a card I made using Martha Stewart punch Crochet Star
on creme card stock with a kraft paper base.
The sentiment is from Jaded Blossom's Thanksgiving Wishes set (one of my favorites!).
I also used their Flag Dies for the "ribbon" the sentiment sits on.
The leaves and acorns are cut from BoBunny's Apple Cider collection,
and the page I used was called: Apple Cider Autumn. I finished it off with a little bling.

Christmas Ornament

This is one of my favorite ornaments that I have made so far. I made this ornament a couple of years ago using ribbon and fabric. I love the colors together. I will have to see if I can find the ribbon to make more.

Lack of crafty time... :(

I have to admit, this semester has been a lot of stress and work. My last 3 semesters were part time (6 credits total) and now I'm full time. This week I have 3 tests (one I have to take at the school) on top of my regular school work. I hope (crosses fingers) that I can plow through 90% of it tomorrow and only have the on-campus test to take Saturday so I can be crafty. It's amazing how much you miss it when you can't do it. *sigh*

Meanwhile, this is the awesome scarf my husband is knitting me. I taught him the basics and he ran with it.

Mom's Shawl is finished!!! well... almost...

All I have left to do is sew in the ends and this shawl is finished! I started it for me, but my Mom took one look at it and claimed it. Had I continued to make it for me, I would still be working on it.

This shawl was knit using size 13, 36" circular needles. I used Lion Brand Homespun yarn, the color is Delft. The pattern is quite easy. I got it off of Lion Brand's website. It's called the Honest Warmth Shawl. I did cut the number of finished stitches on the needles down by 50 because my Mom is about small and I didn't want it being huge for her.

This picture is actually one from my cellphone. I was trying to take a shot to show my Mom and Emi crawled up onto the table and well, here you have it! It was too cute not to post.

Here it is finished.

Halloween Birthday Party invites

I just realized I did take a picture of the Halloween Birthday party Invites I made for my neighbors middle son.

I opened up the Silhouette Store and he told me he wanted the shape of a pumpkin. We looked through the designs and he picked this one out. Something quick and cute.

Even though there isn't a photo of it, he wanted a gate fold on the inside so his mom had a lot of room to write.

Scarf done!

I've been in a knitting mood. I just finished the scarf I had been working on the other day. I love it! I've started another one with the same pattern.

I am currently posting from the Blogger app because I wanted to see how it is. The brown scarf is the completed scarf. The ivory one with the shimmer is the new work-in-progress.

This one is the new work in progress.

This one is my completed scarf that I absolutely love  :)

Learning a new knitting stitch

I've been sick for about a week now (bleh!) and I haven't really felt like playing with paper. I did make my neighbors Halloween birthday party invites, but I didn't get a picture of them before I sent them off.

I've been playing around with this knitting stitch called the linen stitch. I learned it from a site that I often reference when I'm in the mood to add more to my knitting knowledge. The site is verypink.com. I taught myself to knit using her tutorial videos.

This is the piece I am working to get my hands use to the linen stitch.

I see place mats, coasters, and hot pads in my future.  :)

World Card Making Day!!

Woo hoo!! I hope I get to participate today! It's been one heck of a week! My dog Emi was attacked by the neighbors dog and early this morning, just before 1am, Tak had another seizure. I'm taking some time this morning to just let both of my girls rest. Once my homework is done today, Bammo! I'll be making cards!

Fall Paper Lanterns

Ever since I saw the first paper lantern file from SVG Cuts, I've been wanting to make one. I finally sat down today on my one day with no homework and started cutting.
The files I used were: Crisp Days of Fall for the lantern and Toil and Trouble for the pumpkin.
I used the Flag Die from Jaded Blossom along with their stamp set, Thanksgiving Wishes.

And here they are with battery powered LED tealights in them. I got the tealights at Michaels.

Now to find a spot to hang them.  :)

Projects in Progress

I have survived the first week of school! With all of the stress and the "everything that could possibly go wrong went wrong" fun I had, I decided to reward myself with a day of crafting. Currently, I am playing with a couple of projects. I made lanterns from the SVG Cuts file Crisp Days of Fall and I am hoping to finish the pumpkin banner I started last week using their file Midnight Jamboree. Unfortunately, one of the pumpkins from the banner met a horrible end... so I may have to make a new one or just go without him... These are currently works in progress. I still have to decorate them, but I wanted to get something up here on my blog since it's been awhile.  :) Cheers!

School starts soon!

The past week I've been dealing with getting ready for school which starts on Monday. It seems every boo boo that I could have made, I made. I fixed most of it though. Between not having enough credits so my student loans didn't kick in to ordering the wrong book (I ordered a physical copy of the one book that is available for my Kindle... The Kindle version being $50 cheaper.) my brain felt rather explodey there for awhile. Hopefully I can be crafty today and finish a few projects on my desk! Usually, when I am stressed, knitting and crochet are my go-to crafts of choice. I find them very therapeutic. They are my form of meditation. I have 3 in-progress knitting projects. A shawl, scarf, and washcloth.

Here's hoping I am back on track today!

Child's Dress Ornament

I have to admit, I had finished the actual ball part of the ornament some time ago. In between moves across country and everything else under the sun, it ended up boxed up and stored away. While I was digging around looking for something else, I found it and set it on my desk as a reminder to finish it.
Today, I finished it.

The printed material was actually a child's dress. I cut the pieces I needed from it and matched it to a shade of Fairy Frost fabric by Michael Miller. The ribbons are from my stash. All 3 ribbons were purchased at Michaels at some point in time.

And the proof! Here's the dress.  :)

It's not the greatest shot of the dress. I took the picture a few years ago.

Have a great day!

Dad's 60th Birthday Card!

My Dad is an avid fisherman and hunter, so when it came to making his birthday card this year, I had to trek on over to my local scrapbooking store.
I chose papers from The Paper Loft's Huckleberry Pond and Hooked on Fishing collections. The solid paper is Bazzill Basics.
From Jaded Blossom, I used their Happy Birthday stamp from the Miscellaneous Fun set, along with their awesome Flag Dies. The number candles are from the My Cute Stamps Birthday Numbers set.
The DAD fish cut is from the Silhouette Store. It's called "dad fish" and it's by Cali Arroyo.

The first thing my Dad did was start naming the fish from the paper!
Thanks for stopping in and have a great day!  :)

Holiday Ornament

I have finally started a blog, with many thanks to Candace of Paper Crafts by Candace, who designed my blog. I LOVE IT!!

My project today is a holiday ornament I created using fabric, ribbon, pins, a 3" styrofoam ball, and the Thanksgiving Wishes set by Jaded Blossom. I used the pumpkin stamp and white craft ink to heat emboss some less-than-sparkly fabric & ribbon. Here is the result.  :)

Side View

I heat embossed the grosgrain ribbon using the same pumpkin stamp as I did the fabric. The embossing powder also has a little glitter to it for a nice sparkle in the light. Now I can put the poor pumpkin stamp away for a little bit and let it get some rest!  LOL! Have a good day!
